For the 2023 edition, PYLER CEO Jaeho Oh was invited to speak as part of a future-focused session titled "The First Penguin."

This year’s theme — New Wave: Talent Revolution in the Age of AI and the Big Blur — reflects how technological change is dissolving traditional industry boundaries. Just as Uber entered the food delivery market with UberEats, or Apple expanded from smartphones to streaming via Apple TV+, the "Big Blur" describes how industries now converge in unexpected ways.

The forum brought together global experts to explore how AI, digital transformation, and cross-sector innovation are redefining the concept of talent and the future of work.

The First Penguin – Youth Shaping the Future

CEO Jaeho Oh joined the session titled “The First Penguin,” a metaphor for trailblazers who boldly dive into the unknown before others follow — much like the first penguin leaping into potentially dangerous waters in search of food.

Jaeho’s entrepreneurial journey began in high school, when he founded SEMER Inc. in 2019 and led logistics and tourism projects in Yancheng, China. He went on to join the Intelligent Systems Research Center (ISRC) at Sungkyunkwan University, where he developed an image captioning-based screenshot classification solution under the mentorship of Professor Sukhan Lee.

Building on this early success — including recognition from national invention and software competitions and winning the Korea Talent Award in 2019 — he enrolled in UNIST’s computer engineering program. He later took a leave of absence to join the UC Berkeley Accelerating Program, where he was accepted into the Alchemist Accelerator and SCET (Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology).

These experiences laid the groundwork for founding PYLER, a brand safety AI company based on video understanding technology. His leadership has led to multiple papers being accepted at top-tier AI conferences such as CVPR and ICCV, and in July 2023, Pyler successfully raised Series A funding.

Introducing PYLER and AiD

At the forum, Jaeho Oh shared the journey behind launching PYLER, the market problems the company is solving, and its flagship product: AiD, an AI-powered video content filtering solution that ensures brand safety in digital advertising environments.

His presentation emphasized the growing importance of startup innovation in addressing complex, modern-day challenges — from digital misinformation to advertising transparency — and how young founders can become “First Penguins” in the AI era.
